Message from Webmaster
I have many goals for the Stony Brook Press website. One such goal was to develop a community that was able to take care of itself.
I have said to many people that I don’t want to police the website. I don’t want to be the sole sovereign ruler of the website.
One person is NOT responsible for the current website. It was and, still, is a group effort. Some individuals are just more apparent in their contributions.
I believe that the community is filled with intelligent individuals that can contribute to the development of the website. We are capable of successful conflict resolution. We can solve problems in ways that are mutually beneficial. I believe that we, not I alone, can determine the way that the website runs. We all can be the webmaster. However, such a goal requires communication. It requires that people voice their opinions as to how they want the website to be run. For example, what rules do you want the website to have? It requires that people inquire about this structure that was built. For example, how can we improve it? Is there another alternative?
I wanted to create a website that is a vehicle for expression. A place where individuals can speak their minds…and their “hearts”.
This place will require that people be held responsible for what they express. You own your words.
I believe that we, individually and collectively, have within all of us the ability to build something great. Your intellect and your
imagination help to build this website just as much as the webpage scripts and modules that lie underneath the surface.
We are the blood that courses through this website.
I told you what I think. So, what do you think?
Peace,
Chris Williams
